Right I work at a game server provider (endlessgaming.co.uk) and I have managed to secure us a 20 slot voice server for mumble.
The server costs: £0.00 a month :-)
Low down:
Mumble is a free voice server software so no licencing ect ect like teamspeak and ventrilo have....
What is the difference between this and in game chat?
In game chat works for one lobby and one game right, well mumble will allow people to talk to each other regardless of the game that they are playing. So if you want you can play black ops or minecraft and still talk to people playing modern warfare. Also it provides a more stable voice system than in game, as in game voice has glitches and issues that cause people to sound stupidly quiet for no reason, where mumble will not have that problem.
What do I need to do?
Mumble is free to download install and use, no details needed nor any questions asked.... to get hooked up to the server you just need to follow a few simple steps:
1. go to:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mumble/files%2FMumble%2F1.2.3%2Fmumble-1.2.3.msi/download2. run the program to install mumble and set up your voice configuration.
3. Fill in the Details:
- Click on the server tab on the top left
- Click add new...
- Fill in the form like so:
- Label: Any memorable server name for example LNG
- Address: 85.234.136.94
- Port: 10030
- Username: (your username)
- Password: (leave this blank)
- Click ok
4. Click Connect
5. Click yes to accept the security certificate
6. Click on the self tab on the top bar, and then click register
